Shadow FAQ

You can download a copy of this FAQ here.

What takes place during a shadow visit?

Shadow visits allow grade school students to experience a day in the life of a Peoria Notre Dame student. Shadow visitors will have a chance to explore the PND campus, attend classes and lunch, and learn more about the activities that PND offers. The Director of Student Admissions will be available to meet one-on-one with any shadow visitor who would like to do so.

When can I shadow at Peoria Notre Dame?

Peoria Notre Dame welcomes shadow visitors on most Fridays between October 1 - April 30.

I am currently a student at another high school. Can I shadow at PND?

Transferring high schools is an important decision that deserves careful consideration. Please contact Katie Madison, Director of Student Admissions, at admissions@pndhs.org or 309-691-8741 ex. 302 to initiate a conversation about the transfer process.

How do I schedule a shadow visit?

Students wishing to schedule a shadow visit should complete an online request at peorianotredame.com/shadow-request. Requests should be completed the Monday prior to the Friday of the requested visit. Please note that all visits must be approved and confirmed prior to the shadow visitor’s arrival at PND. Once the request has been approved, the Director of Student Admissions will contact you to confirm the visit. Please note that PND reserves the right to limit the number of shadow students in the building at one time and that requests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I request to shadow a specific PND student?

Certainly! When completing the shadow visit request form, please indicate whether you would like to shadow a specific PND student. Typically, students choose to shadow a current freshman or sophomore to gain better understanding of what the early years of high school will be like, however the Office of Student Admissions understands that some visitors may prefer to shadow upperclassmen and will try to accommodate such requests.

When and where should I arrive for my shadow visit?

Shadow visitors should check-in at the PND Main Office by 7:45 AM the morning of their visit. The Main Office is located just inside the main entrance that faces Sheridan Road and is located off the Circle Drive. The Director of Student Admissions will be waiting to greet you in the office and introduce you to your host, if needed. Parents and guardians are welcome to accompany their student into the Main Office, but doing so is not required.

What is the attire for a shadow visit?

Shadow visitors are expected to wear dress slacks, a collared shirt, and dress shoes. Since Fridays are Spirit Days at PND, shadow visitors are also permitted to wear PND spirit wear over their collared shirt.

What time do shadow visits end? Where should I be picked up?

The PND school day ends at 3:05 PM. Since the parking lot tends to be very crowded and busy at the end of the school day, it is suggested that shadow visitors are picked up by parents or guardians at 2:45 PM. Parents should pull into the Circle Drive. There is no need to park and walk in; students will walk out to the Circle Drive. Shadow visitors who are riding home with an older sibling or host student are welcome to stay until 3:05 PM.

What else do I need to know?

Take advantage of your visit day! Ask as many questions of our students, faculty, and staff that you can think of! Meet as many people as possible and talk to them about how PND develops the whole person - spirit, body, and mind. Most importantly, know that we are happy to welcome you to PND!

For more information, please contact the Director of Student Admissions, Mrs. Katie Madison, at k.madison@pndhs.org.
